Role Description As a Senior Fullstack Product Software Engineer on Dropbox’s Browse & Navigate Web Experience team, you will own and evolve the customer-facing web experiences and supporting systems behind Browse, Navigate, Preview, and related workflows. You will lead ambiguous, multi-phase work from technical discovery and design through rollout and operational ownership, partnering with Product, Design, Data, Infrastructure, and platform teams. You will combine full-stack execution with sound architecture, production judgment, and approved AI-assisted workflows while remaining accountable for final technical quality. Our Engineering Career Framework is viewable by anyone outside the company and describes what’s expected for our engineers at each of our career levels. Check out our blog post on this topic and more here. Responsibilities Own multi-phase full-stack product capabilities from requirements and technical design through staged rollout, measurement, and ongoing operation. Design and evolve scalable web experiences, services, APIs, and data models for Browse, Navigate, Preview, App Shell, window chrome, and shared web capabilities. Make architecture and scope tradeoffs that balance customer needs, delivery constraints, reliability, performance, security, privacy, and maintainability. Improve observability, testing, incident readiness, and on-call health, and lead debugging and production-risk decisions when systems fail. Use approved AI and automation tools for implementation, testing, debugging, documentation, and operational workflows; validate outputs and standardize practices that preserve engineering quality. Align cross-team dependencies and create leverage through reusable components and services, design and code reviews, runbooks, technical documentation, and mentoring. Many teams at Dropbox run Services with on-call rotations, which entails being available for calls during both core and non-core business hours. If a team has an on-call rotation, all engineers on the team are expected to participate in the rotation as part of their employment. Applicants are encouraged to ask for more details of the rotations to which the applicant is applying. Requirements 9+ years of professional software engineering experience, including experience building full-stack product systems, or equivalent practical experience. Experience designing, shipping, and operating large-scale, customer-facing web applications and multi-component systems. Strong frontend engineering skills with TypeScript or JavaScript and modern web frameworks such as React, plus experience with at least one backend language such as Python, Go, Java, or C++. Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of ambiguous, multi-phase initiatives, including adjusting scope based on customer, business, and technical constraints. Experience making architecture tradeoffs across frontend systems, APIs, data models, reliability, performance, observability, and production operations. Ability to learn unfamiliar systems, codebases, and approved AI or automation workflows while validating generated output for correctness, security, privacy, and maintainability. Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly and align dependencies across Engineering, Product, Design, Data, Infrastructure, and platform partners. Preferred Qualifications Experience with large-scale content, file, collaboration, or productivity systems. Deep experience with React and TypeScript together with backend APIs, services, and data modeling. Experience with AI-assisted product experiences, recommendation systems, or operational automation. Experience leading cross-team migrations, staged rollouts, or platform integrations and improving SLOs, observability, or test strategy. Durable Skills AI fluency means using these tools to amplify human judgment, not replace it. We believe people with these skills will thrive as work and technology continue to evolve: Awareness: Understand yourself and others. Judgment: Evaluate information and make decisions in complex situations. Adaptability: Learn, adjust, and stay effective through change. Connection: Communicate, collaborate, and build trust. To learn more about why these skills matter and what the data shows about thriving through change, read this blog post from our Chief People Officer, Melanie Rosenwasser.
